I chased this buck all archery season. Now I am waiting for him to drop.

I am bound and determined to get my hands on those sheds. Any guesses (see if the guesses are still the same from October post)

At Least you're not 'Runnin' Him this time!:D

This is probably one of the most difficult deer to guess a score. I was really hoping you'd get him so we could see more pictures.

I think you're right in that the mass could be deceptive. 185+ is my guess. I couldn't care less what he nets.

188
What a stud buck. So my question for you is how far away from where u hunted this buck to where he is wintering is it? Was it luck u found him again or did u know his winter grounds? I never seem to find where my bucks I hunt end up for winter.
Anyway good luck and very cool!

Vanilla, you might care what he net scores if he were your buck and you were having him scored for the all-time records Book. I usually only concern myself with net scores when a buck has a chance to be included for the records book, in that case, "net" scores are not just for fish.

when M52 here first shared pic's of this bruiser, there were several guys that thought that he might net typical B&C. I was one of them. Now i'm not betting either way but i'd guess that he falls just short... and no doubt that his heavy mass hides inches on the length of those points.

My guess is when you find his antlers (which I hope you do) that the individual antlers will score around 82-84. His tine length is better than most bucks, his eye guards are big for a muley, his mass is excellent, and his mainbeams seem to be around 26 inches. I killed a 3x3 this year that is pretty similar to this buck in regards to the eye guards, mainbeam, mass, and the G2 and G3 and my buck scored 173 so this buck is well over 170s.

This buck only has gone 2 miles from where he winters and where he summers. Literally one drainage over.I have seen this buck for 3 years now and he has yet to top out on size.

The only issue i have is he might drop on private land and i am out of luck. He moves every morning from the private fields to public to bed down.

I am just relieved that when I shot him he wasn't mortally wounded and I was unable to find him. Seeing him alive 3 weeks after I shot him was a huge relief. Just a nice scar in the high shoulder tells the story that he ducked my arrow at 30 yards.

I hope to post pix of his antlers in my hand in a week or two.

Can u contact the landowner? That's really cool that he lives in the area year round! Good luck!

Sage, I hear ya. I know you didn't start that game, it's just the rules of how the book works. I know why net matters to some, and that's okay with me I just think net is dumb. I've always been in the camp of "if he grew it, it should count." Net is just dumb, IMO.

Honestly, the book doesn't mean anything to me. It would take a lot of convincing to get me to enter an animal personally. But that doesn't mean others shouldn't. To each their own!

I am REALLY pulling for the OP to pick up these sheds. And then hope he kills him on next year's hunt. He's earned it.

Vanilla, Not saying it was you or anything like that but the way you put that last post, the way that you said it, reminded me of a hunting Bud gone maybe 10 yeas now, Big Dan. He always prided himself that he could get his buck and catch his share of the fish that were getting caught. He didn't care for big horns, he said and made it clear that big racks didn't interest him, he was going to shoot the first legal buck he saw and he managed to do that year after year. Then i came back into town one evening and quickly got the word that Big Dan had killed a really big buck.

Hanging out within the same circles as we did, i got to hear many times on just how Dan was able to find and get his Big Deer. I also heard Dan to say that he thought that he could get one just as big the following season. I never held it against him. :)

Let me be clear, I like big bucks and I cannot lie! It's the 'book' that doesn't interest me all that much. And net is dumb.

This deer's rack plays tricks on my eyes and mind. He's a tough one, for sure. Awesome buck!

With this bucks Mass, 4-5 inch g-1's,and 3 inch extra, I think this buck will gross around 185.

Very nice buck.

I'd guess around 190. He's really cool. Let us know.

I am not dealing with the landowners there anymore.

I was able to get permission to hunt him on their land (two brothers own it). One day when I was in there the brother chewed my ass out for being in there hunting even tho i had permission from the other brother.

This brother is soooo close to hunter harassment every year. I told myself that it is not worth it to deal with the landowner. Even tho he is a dandy buck it was not fun for me anymore.

I am in for the thrill of the chase and being in nature.I will stop hunting when it is not any fun anymore. So, probably when I die. lol

That's enough to drive a guy crazy. I hope you find them. I wouldn't be Surprised if they go 185-190". Good Luck!

I put him at 189" gross with a 24" spread credit so if you get lucky and pick up the drops I put the antlers alone at 165". Good luck I hope you find them after all the time invested in watching him and your history.

Im saying 189 with a 22" spread credit. The mass on this joker is unreal. Good luck picking up his sheds.
