Just wondering how many of you will be hunting Colorado this yr for the big muley bucks. Haven't hunted Colorado since 2012 and looking forward to some good hunting with maybe some rut activity.

By the amount of PMs I am receiving and the hype of the late dates I'm guessing everyone and their brother will be in for the draw. Going to be some folks on suicide watch when the draw comes out and every unit takes at least 2 more points to draw this year.

As a resident I'm holding my points.. Later dates might be favorable for the 3rd and 4th season but everyone who thinks they have the points to draw such and such tag might be surprised come June...

LAST EDITED ON Mar-21-16 AT 02:56PM (MST)[p]I'm going to try and burn my 13 points this year. (Non res)

Not me. It is also late seasons in other states this year that will make for some great hunts. I'll sit out the big rush in Colorado and hunt else where. Besides next year is only one day later anyways and hopefully one more year for the big bucks to get bigger (always a guessing game).

With19nr points I've got too many options. And, not enough for the best units.any advice?

Rich I couldn't agree more I have got more PM and emails looking for info this year then I have got the last 5 years combined.

Y'all think you've got problems. I've been chasing a 36" wide nontyp for 2 years now in a 0 point unit and I have 11 points! Can't be drawn as a second choice and landowner tags are hard to come by! I'll worry about 44 4th 6 years from now, I need to kill "wide load"!

YBO, you have enough to get into several good areas as a NR... you could go to Gunnison area or up by Craig CO, or Dolores county for some good deer hunting.

2f350s: Spend the money on additional licenses and HUNT more!

I'd burn those points on that buck, what other 11 point unit can you guarantee to find a similar buck?

2f350s. Thanks. I'm seriously thinking 44 3rd but I'm also thinking point creep will push it above 19 points to draw. Not getting younger and I need to hunt.

I applied for a 3rd season rifle tag with 8 points, so I have a good chance. Several hunters drew last year with 5 points, so we will see if I draw. Good luck in the draws. I agree with others I think the high demand 3rd/4the season tags will jump a couple pp in the 2016 draws. Next year may offer a better chance.

I HAVE TALKED TO 3 DIFFERENT COLORADO FELLAS THIS WEEK ON WINTER KILL CONCERNING WEST SLOPE UNITS. I WONT WRITE A BOOK.......BUT.....THE WORD I GOT WAS KNOW THE CONDITIONS OF YOUR UNIT BEFORE YOU BURN A BUNCH OF POINTS. THIS YEAR COULD GET DOWN RIGHT SAD FOR A FEW OF US.

ALSO WARNED NOT TO BUY INTO THE ROSY PICTURE THE FISH & GAME PEOPLE PAINT.

BUYER BE WARE !!!!..........................YD.

Sorry but in all honesty this year could be an epic bust in CO. Sure there will be some great bucks but winter was not exactly easy, and the amount of people hyping the later dates is unreal. Not to mention most guys will fill their tag the first 3 days of a hunt. Heck that means most will actually be hunting the last few days of a normal season any how. I am sitting Colorado out this year and going WY. I am a resident but I bet the odds might get slightly better or at least not creep as much in other states since everybody and their brother thinks this is the year in CO.

I am still not fully convinced the on the winter kill. I have mixed results and mixed reports.

Sit it out and see. there will be another later season start date in a few years.

To late to sit out now i all ready applied for a unit I have never hunted or ever been in. Do have some relatives that have hunted the unit and talked me into applying there. I guess we will see what effect the winter has had on some of these units.
