My credit card got hit

I just got back from vacation on Sunday and was going through my mail and upon opening my credit card statement I notices there was a balance on it. I know I didn't charge anything on it so I looked and low and behold Wyoming Fish and Game hit me for mine and my son's deer permits in Area G.

is this early or has anyone else got hit yet. Sorry I have been gone for two weeks and have not been following the forums.

Sorry my bad I haven't applied in Wyoming other than for preference points for a number of years. I believe that they charge you in advance for the permit and then refund you if you don't draw. now I am depressed sorry

That's correct. The money is immediately taken off your CC and the draw results won't be out until late June. This year they will refund the money, minus the $14 application fee, right back onto your CC instead of sending you a state check. How many PPs do you and the boy have and which draw did you enter?

collectively we have 4 1/2 points and I applied under the one that gives you the best chance. I believe we are right on the cusp of point required
my son and I have not drawn a tag for several years either in Utah or Wyoming or Colorado so I was a little excited ha ha only to be shot down. hopefully we get it I hunted in this zone 22 years ago right after the big winter kill off and haven't been back since.

90% drew a tag in the Special Draw last year with 4PPs, so you'll have a good chance at your tags, but maybe not 100%. Good luck to ya, as it's a great area to kill a good buck if you work hard and are in shape!

I'm curious if you just buy preference points in Wyoming why you don't do it later in the year? That way you just pay the $40 for deer and $50 for elk. No reimbursement to mess with.

I think he said he has purchased just points in the past, but this year he applied for a hunt.

Because you have a chance to draw the tag in the random portion of the draw.

Sorry guys didn't see the response yes I have put in for points in the past but when I get to the point where I could maybe draw the tag or in the random drawing then I go for it.
Like many guys we try to get points collected in each state to make some hunts in the future. in this case my son and I have been putting in for points for several years for two reasons wait for the year when the antler growth is best from a wet winter and mild spring and the other is collecting points so in a off year where we have no particular plans we can put in for a great unit like Area G.
Keep in mind the last time I hunted this unit I wasn't savvy in any way as we went the year after the big winter kill in 92. we were told not to shoot the first four point we saw as we would see many in that category. We'll I saw one four point about a 160 deer and I shot it there was a three point with him my buddy passed on and that was the last deer we saw for seven days and we hiked everywhere and hunted hard.
hopefully this is the year because I didn't get a hit on my credit card from Utah yesterday as others did.
