I poated this in the nevada section but thought it might gwt a little more action here. So a few buddies and I drew the early archery this year. Its all our first years hunting the rubys. We all are backpackers and thats what we will be doing. I have been studying maps sense we put in and really like the looks of the kings peak area. Looks like there is a indian reservation in the low part... can you access the mountain through there? Im open to any information in general. Plan on doing multiple scouting trips this summer and possibly hiring a packin service if needed. The whole object would be to get away from people and stay away from high traffic trailheads. If anyone can help out i would greatly appreciate it. I would be will to trade info... i have spent all my life hunting northern utah and would be willing to trade info if you'd like. Pm me if you'd like. Thanks

Lamoile canyon is a good spot. We also had good luck in the Easten Humbolts. We got two nice 4-ponters a couple years ago. Can be tough to get away from the crowds though.
If you have any info on Box Elder county I'd appreciate it. We usually hunt a CWMU out of Grouse creek, but it got too expensive. Went with general tags this year.

Do yourself a favor, get packed in. Last year we got packed in, the outfitter said the Indian res was inaccessible to most. the deer move a lot, we stayed 7 days and hiked our butts off every morning /evening. Fun hunt but rugged.

Who did you use for the pack in and what did it cost? Its something we have seriously been considering. Do they have a designated area they take you or will they take you where ever? We have also been considering renting llamas.

We used Nevada high desert outfitters, nhdo.com $600 per person. They can take you most of the rubies out of lamoille canyon. They will drop you where you want or suggest where you could go. We got dropped off and spiked out from there. Talk to d6native as well, he is who I hunted with.
