I drew a Wasatch mountain east muzzleloader deer tag(nov 2-10). This is a new limited entry deer tag in a general hunting unit. New to this area of Utah and any information to point me in the right direction or quality of animals to expect would be greatly appreciated! thank you

I'm in the same boat orhunter.. and, i have a baby due on Nov. 9th... fingers crossed for about Oct. 20th birth so my wife and kids and new baby can be there with me.. lol

Damn!!!!!! I guess lucky, my brother had 8 and didn't draw.. Good luck on the hunt, we'll have to share info as the season nears.

Congrats on the tag, it's a good area with good genetics just have to find a buck with some age. The deer are looking pretty good this year. The last few winters have helped & and as much as I hate to admit it I think the F&G wiping out the elk has helped the deer. I was up snooping around the other day and put a little video togather that you might be interested in. Public Trophy Hunter on Google.

Clint, That is a sweet video to get my blood pumping.. thanks, keep em coming.. :)

lmao ;) If I had a nickel for everyone who asked that Cat,, I'd have enough for that new Viper spotter.. :) I guess the answer is, I've hit a point in my life where i'd rather have my loved ones at the family cabin enjoying it with me.. PLUS,, I heard from my cousins co-workers best friends ex-husbands brother that the Nomad made the trip across I-35 into them there hills ;) lolol.. Plus, If i don't start getting big stinky points, i'll be 90 before i get to hunt one.

I drew it with 9 points. Haven't had a lot of time to scout, however I've done the muzzle loader elk hunt a handful of times up there and I always see massive bucks.

Best of luck to you guys!

Hard to call this hunt a true limited entry hunt. As there will be literally thousands and thousands of people getting a crack at it before you do.

The hunt dates benefit you pretty good this year as you should see some pre rut activity.

I would focus on the north side of highway 40. currant creek, red creek, mt tabby.

You might just find a monster hanging out around the little red creek cwmu it happens I watch them come off there every year.

Yeah, even with it being a general unit I have had first hand experience that the majority of hunters don't step off the road up there. It's not uncommon to see 24-26 inch bucks during general season. So when the pressure is lowered and the Rut is nearing I feel like we should be able to find a monster.
