Planning a archery elk hunt for eastern Idaho- looking at unit 76. According to IF&G the unit is below objective on cows. Wondering if the bull count is down as well but not published correctly. Any info on areas would be appreciated.
Any info on units 66-A, 66, or 76 for deer? Looking to spike camp in a ways to maximise opportunity. Is the herd on a comeback from the better days of 2004-05

Unit 76 and 66-A are great archery elk hunts for an over the counter tag, there are alot of bowhunters out but it seems like alot of them dont like to stray to far from the road also alot of them seem to hit it pretty hard early in the season but it always gets better around the third week of the hunt. there are some great bulls in the area if you hunt hard and spend some time you should have no trouble finding a good bull in the 300-330 range with an occational 350+ bull they are few and far between but they are there, I hunt it every year and have seen some incredible bulls the last few years over there, so put in some time and hunt smart it is a great hunt. As for deer there are some good bucks in those areas but they can be difficult to find much like many other units but if I had to choose I would concentrate more on area 66 for deer thats just my opinion. Hope this helps you out.
