I just got my tag for unit 11 and just trying to see if I can get any helpful tips about the area. I have a late season tag Nov 10 - Nov 24. I will be going up there in Oct to get some scouting in. I am trying to figure out the best strategy for the area.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-27-16 AT 04:13PM (MST)[p]I am from Washington and I am in pretty good shape and no I have never been there but I have been trying for a while. I ordered some maps for the area but have not received them yet. I have been reading everything I can about the area. I will be up there fist week of Oct to try and get some scouting in. I was looking at set up camp by Waha lake.

RE: Idaho Unit

All I can say is strap your boot laces up and be prepared to hike. There isn't as many good deer around as there used to be. I'd be looking at knocking down a 160 to 170 inch buck if I was you. I also have the same tag and live only 20 mins from the unit.

RE: Idaho Unit

I am prepared to hump in as far as I have to. One thing I do know is normally the best deer are in the worst terrain in what ever unit you hunt in. I would be very happy to come out of there with a 160" buck, and I am willing to put in the hard work to find him. Good luck on filling your tag and share a picture if you get one.
