You watch a buck in the morning and it enters some cover to bed for the day. From your experience will the buck come out in the evening the same way it entered the cover or will it come out the other side or could it just randomly come out anywhere? With your experience could you shed some light on this question. I am sure some of you have seen some tendency these bucks have.

Are you rifle hunting the buck or archery? Rife hunting it wouldn't matter much because you should be set up far enough away that you can cover the area. Archery on the other hand I would be way more worried about the wind then which way he comes out. If you stalk Into bow range just pray that your wind holds long enough for him to stand and give you a shot. Thunderstorms, clouds, sun as well as themals all will and can change wind direction. Not to mention mountain hunting the wind can change frequently.
I guess to answer your question I would set up on the buck trying to cover as many routes as possible or shoot him when he stands. In my experience you can never predict what a mature buck will do every time. It seems when you think you have him figured out they so the opposite.

It sounds to me like you are talking about setting up an ambush on a buck that isn't visible within his bedding area...

I would tell you that the buck will likely take a random exit from his bedding area. However, it is likely the weather/wind will play a part in which random exit he uses. If you have scouted him, you'll have a better idea which exit he likes to use. If not, get set up so that the wind is in your favor. Ensure you have the ability to get drawn back on him without being noticed, and after that, just pray he comes your way...

Good luck buddy...

I know down in the low land the bucks will almost always use the same or close to the same path to get to their bedding area. The bucks bed in the same area almost every day if the weather is hot and consistent. I am talking Oregon High Desert, sage brush, cliffs and 90 degree temps. If it rains or is overcast and cool all bets are off. Rain will fill their normal beds with water and turn them into mud puddles for a couple of days.

The deer bed in the same area but different beds are used by different bucks each day and they move around a lot during the day. The will get up to feed, stretch and when the sun hit them for long enough they will move to the shade. The deer normally work their way across the hillside and eventually cross the bottom of the drainage to the other side to get away from the afternoon sun. By the time they do all of this moving they are nowhere near where they started and don't exit the area the same way.

Deer tend to pick a temporary bed to watch their back trial. This serves to keep their primary bed a secret from predators. once they are comfortable that they haven't been followed they will move deeper into cover. Results in many unsuccessful stalks if you take to long sneaking. Hurry and their sure to catch you. Carefully plan a stalk on a temporarily bedded buck.

All of the answers above are good and true answers. Sometimes a buck will get in his bed and stay in it all day long. Sometimes he will get up and feed around, go to the bathroom and lay back down in the same bed. Sometimes they will stand up and just reposition in the same bed. Just a couple of days ago I watched a buck bed but could not see him in his bed. It took me five hours to get to him. When I was still 130 yards out he stood up and fed down the mountain. So that particular buck stayed in his bed most of the day.
Many times I've watched bucks feed towards thier night time feeding area and will bed down again and watch the feeding area for awhile. And then when they feel safe they will get up and feed out into the open. Fatrooster.
