Pope and Young Book Question

You would have to purchase a record book and manually look it up.....or have someone look it up for you. P&Y doesn't keep 'state records' per se. You probably already know this, but P&Y and B&C rank deer by NET score and not gross......beyond popular belief.

??? Are you sure?

The last printed record book (7th edition-2011) lists a typical mule deer from ND at 199 6/8" taken in 2004.

Yes. P&Y accepts velvet entries into the records program. They will appear in one printed edition of the record book (not ranked) but be retained in the records program forever on the DVD which is accompanied with each record book. Velvet entries are not eligible for world record status or biennial awards.

At the last P&Y Convention, the Club unveiled the first edition of the "velvet only" record book for all species. I was fortunate enough to work on that edition for the Club as part of the records committee. I believe this book will continue, as the actual printed record book is becoming far too large to publish every species and animal accepted since inception. .
