What an epic hunt! A total of 130 miles put on my boots in some of the nastiest country Wyoming has to offer. Most of the miles were with 55 pound packs and the other with 25-30. Such a rewarding time spent with a good friend and family members willing to help out when needed. I found this boy the last week of the hunt and made a less than favorable shot. The next 2 days were spent searching for what I knew was a smoker buck and on the second to the last day my buddy turned him up, bedded under a pine tree and I let him have it not letting him limp away this time! We covered the unit one end to the other putting in 20 days during the hunt and it paid big.

That is a great buck. You did well. Great memories made there for sure. Congrats, he will be hard to beat.

Thank you for sticking with the animal that you wounded and finishing the job. You were rewarded with a stud buck!! Congrats!!

That's a Once-In-A-Lifetime trophy man..!! So big and unique... Congratulations.!!

You DID spend a lot of time up there. You grew a damn beard during the process! Sounds like a well deserved buck, and good job on sticking with the buck you drew blood on. That's honorable. Congratulations on a stud of a buck!

That is a big buck, nice job. Sounds like you earned him, which makes a big buck like that even more rewarding. Congratulations.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I don't think I have ever put the time in to a hunt like this one. The shot should have been a give me at 240 yards but it passed between the shoulder and brisket, leaving him sick but not immediately fatal. He made it about a mile before bedding for what I assume was 2 days.

Wow. Nice job.

Now, if that is what it takes to shoot a buck like that, I just don't know if I have it in me to ever get there. Guess there's always hoping for luck. Way to go and make it happen!

Congrats on a great buck. the sacrifice was worth it. the last picture is worth more than 1000 words.

Awesome write-up and even better buck! Congratulations and thanks for posting it up.

Smoker buck. Way to go on turning him up again. That is very difficult to do. You definitely put in the miles for him. Well earned.

Awesome story and a tough hunt that turned out good.
You earned him the hard way.
