Big 3rd season buck

Was able to put this big guy down on the third day of the hunt. We had been seeing 5-7 bucks a day, with 10 of them rutting really hard. The day I killed my buck, my brother put two stalks on different bucks in the morning. They both got in the thick stuff, never to be seen again.

We spotted this buck a long ways off. After a two hundred yard slide straight down a hill, then a long run, I was finally in position to get a shot. After a long, hard pack out, we were back at the truck around 10pm

We are still trying to find one for my brother. Shouldn't be too hard as he is getting less picky by the day

Great buck, congrats. Glad to hear of your success since the weather has been pretty tough. Sounds like most hunters are struggling.

Thanks guys! We had a great time during 3rd season and looked over quite a few bucks. The deer were spread out and in all different stages of the rut. Saw a few bucks chasing does really hard. Other bucks already had their little herd of girls they were claiming. Then found a few bachelor groups of bucks.

We hunted hard for 7 days and only filled one tag. My brother kept holding out for a good buck, but was never able to put one in his scope. We are already making plans and getting ready for next year.
