Muzzleloader Buck

I have enjoyed looking at the pictures and reading the success stories on this site and thought I would share some pictures of my successful 2016 Utah General Season Muzzleloader hunt.

I fist saw this buck during a scouting trip at the end of July. Due to a hectic work schedule, I was only able to scout a few times after that and chose to focus on a few new areas to see if I could turn up anything better. I wasn't able to find anything better so opening weekend found me back in the basin I had seen him in July. After a slow morning of glassing I decided to still hunt to a new glassing point overlooking a north facing travel corridor between bedding areas. As I was nearing my destination, I skirted around a small group of pines and looked below me and he was standing there staring at me quartering away at 75 yards. I slowly shouldered my gun hoping he wouldn't bolt and he stayed put long enough for me to get a shot.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Nice looking buck, keeper all day in my book.
Good looking country to boot.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

The only down side to this hunt was it was my only tag this year and it was filled after only one evening and a morning hunt. Next year can't come soon enough.

That's a nice one for a general tag. Good to see/know they're hard-horned during this season. I've be playing with a TC Omega for the last couple of years. Been thinking about burning 14 NR points on a good MZ hunt this year. Allowing a magnified scope makes it all the better.
