My Best Year Ever!

This was by far my best year harvesting mature deer. However, I'm always thankful for any time I'm able to spend in the field with family and friends. I was fortunate to be able to share in these hunts with my brother and some great friends.

The first 2 photos are of my deer harvested in Nevada. He measured approximately 186 5/8" gross. Pictured with me in the second photo is my brother and the deer he harvested. His measured approximately 176" gross.

Next was the deer I harvested in my home state of Idaho. I took him on the last day of the general season. He is just under 28" wide.

Last but not least, is the nontypical whitetail I harvested in Oklahoma. He had 17 total points and a double main beam on the left side.

Thank you for looking!

LAST EDITED ON Dec-06-16 AT 04:47PM (MST)[p]Tikka,

Thank you! Believe it or not, my buddy had to talk me in to shooting him. He came in with only minutes of daylight left on opening day. He was coming in on a tree line and I was having a hard time judging his rack. My friend, being from Oklahoma assured me I didn't want to pass him up. Once he stopped I was able to get a pretty good look at his rack and noticed the double main beam. I decided to listen to my friends advice. I was able to drop him in his tracks with one shot. When we got up to him I was glad I took my friends advice. It truly was hard to judge whitetails after chasing muleys for a month prior to this hunt.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments! I've hunted deer off and on for 37 years and have never had a year like this. I truly feel blessed. My only regret is I didn't have my camera on me when I harvested my Nevada buck. I took him shortly before dark and we were in a hurry to get him caped, butchered and loaded on our packs before it got too late. He had a huge body. :)
