I can't even imagine what a buck like that would look like on the mountain. A 33" wide buck looks huge, but 49"!?!?

I've never heard that it wasn't killed legally. One of Mundys employees asked if he could hunt it on the Mundy ranch, and was told yes, on the condition that Mundy gets the antlers. Thats why its called the Mundy buck. I believe its one of 3 bucks in the record book, that were 49+ when scored. The other 2 were the Montana #1 and #2 at the time, killed in back to back years by Father and Son.
