Ca hunter my rifle is a custom 300 Remington ultra mag. I am shooting a really mild load pushing a 200 grain accubond.
A little bit about the story of this deer. My buddy and are members of the dedicated hunter program. We backcountry hunt a portion of northern Utah that has been very productive for us. The first 5 days of the hunt were very slow. Deer number were down and we had not even seen a mature buck. On the morning of the 5th day I spotted this buck making his way to bed. We stalked in as close as cover would allow and set up for the shot. It was 498 yards. After missing my first shot, I put a great shot on him. Somehow he was able to regain his feet. I know another shot wasn't needed to make it fatal,but I believe in shooting if they are still up. Also he was headed down the canyon and away from the trail. I am extremely pleased with this deer! The pack out was long and miserable! But that is quickly forgotton. We were able to get some video of the hunt. I will post a link. Sorry the quality isn't the best. It was emailed to me and resized.

This area has been good to us. We have killed a few mature bucks. My deer scores 173 1/2" and is 24.5" wide. My buddy has killed some good deer too but I will let him share if he wants.
