I got a PM the other day by kickerbuck asking me to post something about the mule deer feeding program that the MDF is heading. Follow the link here for more details and to donate to the cause.

I'm hoping to get up to one of the feeding areas with my buddy, Adam, on Thursday. If I can swing it, I'll share pics. If anyone else has more details and photos, please share in this thread.

Founder,

Thank you for posting this I truly belive that every dollar counts and will help. It is a small amount raised so far that's why I thought it might be good to get the word out.

Most of us try and hunt several different states, so any help would be great.

Thanks,

Dean

Raise a $100k and pay $8K in fees to the raise the money, all while they have $XXX,XXX sitting in a bank account for use only on projects for Utah wildlife. MDF will get my money at the banquet this month.

I will not give any money thru Go Fund me.

They should find an alternate way such as donation at a local bank if they want my money.

I'm troubled that the MDF is seeking money through a gofundme campaign to feed mule deer. According to the audit posted on their own website, MDF has over $4 million in revenue currently sitting just from the public tags they get. We are told ad naseum that this money all directly benefits Utah wildlife.

Seems like a pretty worthy cause for that money to me. What do you all think?

It sucks, because there is a need. I'm certainly not trying to dissuade anyone from donating. But I am trying to get the message out that these organizations that have created giant empires off the backs of the public...step up!

+1 They should put that money where their mouth is.

I was up there with Adam Eakle, Greg Sheehan and a couple others today and I believe someone did mention that both MDF and SFW put up $100k for the feed. I'm not certain though.
There were deer eating up the grub. Whether it's cost effective and really makes a difference, that's still up for debate.

Thanks for the info, Founder.

I'd say $100k is a pretty good start. Good on them.

Now what to do for Utah wildlife with that other $4 million+?

Help me understand. How many feed stations will there be. For example if you were feeding deer in the Book Cliffs wouldn't you need Hundreds of sites to really help the majority of the deer. I'm wondering how many deer are helped doing this. Maybe there's a website I have missed that explains. I would love to help and would be willing to volunteer my time also. The Book Cliffs deer are struggling.

They're always looking for guys to feed. Call the MDF head guy here in Utah.

I was told that at the current feeding locations, they were feeding an estimated 2000 deer. I don't know.
I'll bet after the warm weather recently, that they'll suspend feeding. Snow here's burning off fast.
