I am new to this forum but love mule deer and a chance to make it out to Utah. Any advice on putting in for areas with 0 archery preference points? I was thinking about Fillmore/Pahvant or Plateau, Fish lake units but I saw I would have a 1:4 chance in plateau, thousand lakes. Any advice you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Where are you coming from are you more of an opportunity hunter or trophy hunter? If you're looking more for a spot where you are going to see a lot of deer with a few big ones scattered around or a spot with few deer but some really big ones? Do you prefer backcountry backpack hunting or lots of ATV access?

LAST EDITED ON Feb-13-17 AT 08:41PM (MST)[p]I am from Wisconsin, so i hunt mostly whitetails. I am just looking for an opportunity to see deer with a chance of getting into a decent one but seeing deer would be more important. I would be happy to backpack in for the week and work from there. Thanks.

I hunt wasatch mountains east unit and have no trouble getting into nice bucks. Pick a unit anywhere and hunt hard for the week and you should be able to turn up a decent buck or two. Good luck and post pics when your done.

I hate to do this as it could affect my own hunting but you can hunt Idaho with an over the counter archery tag and probably have a much better chance at hunting more deer with less pressure/competition. Just a thought. Plus the tag is good for the general rifle season if you want and/ or can return.
