IT'S OFFICIAL! Frankie Cheeney of Pioche, Nevada arrowed a dandy buck last Archery season north of Pioche. At the time it was stated possibly a NEW WORLD RECORD for typical Archery buck. Here's a pic of Frankie's buck...stripped, mounted up and scored by a Pope & Young team of scorers. At the time he was taken, it was estimated he would go between 210" and 217". Well after drying period and shrinkage, he scores 205&6/8"...and is the NEW WORLD RECORD for a typical archery Mule deer buck!AWESOME BUCK! Nice article on the deer and hunt in March 2017 issue of Eastman's Bowhunting Journal as well.

Buck of a bowhunter's lifetime and impeccable taxidermy work! Congratulations to the hunter.

Is this the same buck? I remember this one hitting MM, only buck I have been so impressed with that I was inclined to save the picture...

Hunt Hard. Shoot Straight. Kill Clean. Apologize to No One.

Same buck.... Incredible buck.

Certainly hunters choice, but dont think I could have stripped that velvet.

Awesome buck Im glad to see it made it to the top. My favorite buck of 2016 without question. As far as I know it was diy which is even better. Congrats to the hunter!

LAST EDITED ON Apr-10-17 AT 10:42PM (MST)[p]that is an awesome buck and congratulations to the hunter.....I will also give credit to whoever scored it in velvet to get as close as they did. As an OM for B&C I usually see alot bigger difference after stripping and drying than a velvet green score...

Good job to everyone involved.

Hey PISSCUTTER Pete?

You Got the Bucks Sheds from Previous years?

I'm not much in to Velvet!

But I Think I'd of had that Buck Mounted in the Velvet as per Taken!

Congrats on a great buck, I also would have left the velvet on and kept that buck original as killed...

Congrats on a great buck. DIY for me is 100 percent better than having a posse on the mountain side. Hopefully one day I will be able to harvest an impressive trophy of that caliber. If not I had fun trying.

Absolute STUD! I am not usually a fan of velvet, but for some reason, I think this buck just looks that much better in velvet. I understand stripping him for scoring, but I might would have to put fake velvet back on after having him scored. Like I said, I normally don't like velvet, but this buck is different. Regardless, absolute all-timer right there!

Yeah, agreed, that buck looks awesome in the velvet! I'm not a fan of the fake stuff though, and would choose hard horn over flocking. Awesome deer!

Anyone know how they made the antlers look natural after they removed the velvet. I stripped the velvet off my buck and need some ideas on how to do it. Thank you.

Those (shoulder mount photo) are not the real antlers.....they were casted from the originals. The real antlers are much lighter in color.....at least when we panel measured it.

I have had good luck coloring antlers using pine tree branches that have pitch in them and dirt. First rub in the pine pitch then spread on the dirt and then rub in the pitch some more just like a buck would do naturally

WOW! Thanks for this pic, BOHNTR! All the more impressive! As perfectly matched right to left as you can get! Deep forks and symmetry are just awesome!

If memory serves me correctly, both were just north of 26".

Hi, I'm looking to stain my antlers cause I stripped the velvet off. Can you tell me the taxidermist that colored those reproductions. They look perfect. Thank you
