Region F Wyoming here we come

I drew an F tag. My 16 year old son had drawn a 51-1 elk tag so I decided to put in for a deer tag in the same area in case we bump into a good buck. Won't really be hunting deer but will have the tag in my pocket just in case.
He can't get away until either of the last two weeks of October. Not sure yet which of those two weeks we wi,l hunt.

I'll be there most all of October unless I tag out early.
Will be after elk in 51 type-2 area and probably won't hunt south of the Clark's fork for deer unless can't find any where I'm hunting elk.

Are you planning for two weeks?
Might take more than 6 or 7 days to be successful according to the reports.

Good luck to you and your son. Hope I see you out there.

Probably only going to get to hunt 6 days. He will be a high school senior this fall. It would be a hard sell to his mother to take him out of school more than a week. Not looking for the biggest bull in the unit. He will be happy with a decent bull 300 or better. This is his fist out of state hunt and his first elk hunt. We will have a great time regardless if he pulls the trigger or not.

I had planned on hunting with my son.
It would have been our last trip together before he was off to college.

My son passed away in March.

I was going to cancel the hunt, but I think I need a get away from the world for awhile.
A week of school can't compare to the time of a father with his son.
Good luck and be with him all you can.

Mills works sorry for your loss. Time with family is precious. My dad decided he wanted to hunt mule deer for the first time in 48 years. We are headed to F in November. Don't know where to start but probably in South Fork. I have in laws in cody and I am planning a scouting trip mid July. I will let every one know what I see.

I'm sure any info will be appreciated.
I have been told there is a good deer population around the Dead Indian area, but till a guy can walk it and see if there is at least old sign and trails where they might be in October, it's a crap shoot.
I have seen some pics of some great bucks taken up in the high country North of the Clark's fork river.
Many of those were hunted during the November season during the rut though.

Thanks and good luck.
