Wyoming area 101

I've never been so excited drawing a tag as I was this year when I seen the draw results for our 101 deer. Looks like they gave out 14 resident tags and we got 3 of those. Just curios if any of you on here might have had the same luck? I know parts of the area fairly well and have seen some very good deer in there over the years but any advice would be much appreciated too. I would love to see some pictures! Pm if you would like like

biggest typical I ever seen was in that area. There were 6 bucks together and they were only about 40 yards away. To bad that was back in the day that I didn't always have a camera with me. Two of them were solid 180 class bucks and then there was the giant! I am sure he would have went at or over 205" (NET) Typical! I really don't care at all about net scores, but there is sure something to be said about a deer that is just that perfect!

Good luck on your hunt!

You beat the odds ! I hunted it a few years back--- best bucks I saw were 160--180 class, from Pine Mountain area & Black Butte areas, also the Point of Rocks is a sleeper area. Late in the season, the areas near Colorado border can hold some very good bucks. If you see a 180 plus better drop him right there. You only get one chance at them ! Best Wishes, & Good Luck Hunting!
Jerry Gold---Ft Collins , Co--There are bigger bucks in that unit, I never saw them however .

If you were hunting Pine Mountain Jerry you were in the wrong area! Also The point of rocks area is in the wrong area unless of course you cross I-80, but then you would be right in the Black Butte area you also spoke of so not sure about that either.

May have meant Pine Butte, its in 101.

Thanks guys we are very excited. Logged on 397 miles on the jeep today with about 180 of those miles on dirt. Didn't take much time picking any areas apart but seen some new country in there that I haven't seen before. Black Butte is a rugged rocky SOB when you get on it....put the skid plates to work and chunked out the new tires a bit. Sand and pine buttes looked promising too. Got lucky 2 years in a row drawing antelope tags out there but with a deer tag makes a guy look at the terrain alittle different.

Ya the 1st two years we put in we got our goats. We drew area 100 elk our first year putting in there too haha. My dad's friend has been putting in for 101 around 24 years or so and hasn't drawn out yet. After calling us ##### suckers he said there are 4 big bucks he's been watching hang out together in the same area for the last couple years that he's going to show us. Says one has double drops another with a single drop two others just big 4s.

Congrats on the tag, I've had it once and ended up eating the tag didn't see the caliber of buck I was looking for but only had a few days to hunt due to change in jobs, timing sucked lol hope to see some success photos!!

I would hunt it again cause I enjoyed it but the wife wasn't impressed so she won't even put in for 101 anymore she likes 102 for more deer!! Picky picky picky

Hunted 101 in 08 and harvested my biggest deer to date. My coworker/good friend Eldon told me at the time that the last week of the hunt is the best. Lord and behold it was awesome. I would love to get lucky one day and go back.
