Idaho Mule Deer Winter update

I am planning my first trip to hunt Idaho for Mule Deer this October, and have been worried about the effects Winter had on the deer. We are focusing in SE Idaho (Units 75/76)...I just recently came across this Blog update from Eastmans that was somewhat encouraging.

Interesting article, thanks for sharing. I'm planning to hunt somewhere around unit 67 this year so its good to hear most of the bigger bucks survived.

SE Idaho had significant winter Kill. Fawns, does and older bucks.
You don't have the second worse fawn survival in 20 years, and also have little doe and older buck loss.

Unit 76 had poor numbers last year compared to previous 10 years.

Friends shed hunting this spring saw lots of winter kill.

Don't expect much in SE Idaho for the next few years. Yes there are some nice bucks, but overall population and quality took a dive.
