Just got my 2016 buck back from the taxidermist. Mike Johnson from Afton did a great job and I was impressed with the work in his shop when I visited.
A Region G hunt had been on the bucket list for a while and 2016 made sense after a decent run of good winters. I sure feel for the deer that had to endure this past one!
I surprisingly met the Salt River Range Outfitters crew at the Harrisburg Show in 2015 and got a good feeling that they could put on a quality horseback hunt. My gut was right and we had a fantastic time in Mule Deer Heaven. I couldn't have asked for a better hunt and Ralph found this older buck on the morning of day 4. I really liked his character and we were able to get within reasonable range and make the shot. Many thanks go out to Ralph, Cody, Tyler, and Steve. I hope to get out there at least one more time before I go to my Just Reward.
