Idaho Unit 40 - Early Arch

Hello All, new member here from Idaho City, ID, been focusing on Elk for the last 5 years and have been harvesting a muley pretty much every year as a default.

Found myself drawing a Unit 40 early season archery buck tag this year . . . now I have the bug!

I have been google-earth scouting several locations thus far, headed out this weekend to finally get boots on the ground. Mostly I'm thinking I need to be concentrating on the SW corner of the unit, close to the Oregon border. I'm going to target fringe areas where bucks are likely to be bedded in the foothills overlooking ranch fields, try to catch them as they travel from bed to feed.

If anyone has any prior knowledge of this unit that would care to share, I'd greatly appreciate any advice I can get. It's probably best to PM and specific advice so that we don't "blow up" the unit.

Any general early-season advice would also be appreaciated and can be posted on this thread. As I said, I have been focusing on archery elk for 5 years and haven't really been paying close attention to what the bucks are doing during this time period.

Thanks everyone, sorry for the long post.
