High Country strategy

It's been a fun season so far but I'm tired of taking my bow for a hike. I have closed the distance on several bucks so far, anywhere from 12 to 45 yards but just can't seem to close the deal. I have been letting these bucks bed up and stalking them from above when the wind is right. I was just curious what some some of you successful high country archers do to close the deal. Do you wait these bucks out or try and get them up to get a shot? I have been as patient as possible but it just hasn't come together yet.

I always wait the buck out and let them get up naturally. If you try to get a buck out of its bed odds are very low you will get a shot. Be patient and wait them out. You may spend 10 hours in the sun but that is what its going to take to have the highest possibility of success. Best of Luck!

I feel your pain and have wondered the same thing myself. I scouted 12 days and have hunted 12 days. Still no luck on this archery hunt. Some people make it look easy, but I'm sure it's not. I have learned quite a bit this year. Including not to go after a buck unless he's one you're willing to wait all day for him to stand up. Good luck to you, hopefully we can figure it out.

I have used a slingshot to bump a buck up now and then.
