Greetings, new to the forum here, got a 2nd rifle season mule deer tag for these units, looking for any advise. Hunted 36 last year first rifle season for elk, and had no luck but saw several nice bucks, surprisingly close to the roads. Isthis normal for this area? Any advise is greatly appreciated!

I hunted unit 35 last year 3rd season, of course it was really really warm and the hunting was not good at all. Hardly any deer or bucks seen in that unit. I was there 6 days and hunt my azz off and glassed my azz off to no avail, so my advice is hunt unit 36 and don't waste your time in 35, unless you get lots of snow then I think 35 would be good. Ran into a guy from eagle in unit 35 in the wilderness area and he said it's the worse hunting he had ever seen for unit 35 and he has hunted it his whole life. But last nov was way hot and warm. We stayed in eagle and it never froze at night the 6 days I was there. No frost on the pickup windows in the mornings. However that guy said when it snows 18 inches or more in unit 35 this place comes alive. Lots of private land in the high country in 35. It is some of the best looking deer country in the world and for that reason I'm going back next year. Pray for weather. Sorry for the rant. Ha
