I love big 2 points! Character bucks are fun, I'd take a buck like that over a cookie cutter 22" 4 point.

I loved this buck, but he's really a 2x3 frame

To answer your original question: No. total inches of bone is only to compare a figure against other bucks, and with that comparison, he will come up short.

But he has Horn appeal. A great trophy to hang on any wall. I would be proud to shoot one like that and I guarantee you he would be mounted.

Thanks for taking that guy out of the gene pool. I had one in front of my 15 year old daughter. Saturday evening but she wouldn't shoot . You could see his horns with your naked eye at three hundred yards.

This is not my buck which is why I blurred out the face but it had made the rounds on a few sites a few years back. I am sure a few will probably remember it. I kept the picture lying around because I think large 2 points are cool as heck.

This one is pretty wide but skinny antlered.

This bottom forkie is the back buck in the first pic. He isn't very wide but is fairly tall and has really cool forks.

i just killed me a big forked horn buck last friday. his teeth were worn down to the gum line. thickest neck i have ever seen. i passed him up 3 times before i decided to shoot. sorry for the blurry photo, i was by myself when i killed him and couldnt get great field photos.

OP, great forky!

Here is WA a mule deer must have 3 points on at least one antler all of which have to be at least 1" long or longer. So several of the forked horn bucks posted here would not be legal to shoot. I'm glad you guys can take them in other states!

How'bout a "1/2 a forked horn"? To this day, I could swear I saw a FULL rack, and I thought a 3x2; but when I shot, his right side was hidden from view. You can imagine my surprise when I grabbed the left antler to get a look at the buck full-face! No pedicel, he hadn't even grown another side! The right side is courtesy of my brother, who plucked a nearby branch to make him a respectable "forky". We always take my "trophy" to deer camp. "Pete's half-a-buck"LOL!
