My son was able to connect on this nice, heavy buck on the San Juan Elk Ridge rifle hunt. I drew the tag with 12 points and used the DWR Youth Mentoring Program to allow my son to shoot his first buck. It was well worth it to see his face and enjoy the experience. I think he is a hunter for life now.

Congrats to you for making a great choice and sharing your passion with your son. Congrats to your son for getting the job done!

Pass it on...

Way to go huntn4fun I would have to say your spoiling the boy though. Hes probably gonna be strictly a trophy hunter now. On buck two...Oh well hopefully you can get some good lawn mows outta him. Congrats.

Great gift and a great buck. Congrats to both of you. It's always good to add another hunter.

Yeah, many others told me I was spoiling him too! I had lousy hunting experiences growing up and lost my love of hunting for awhile. Seeing my son's frustrations having missed a few small bucks in years past on the Wasatch and seeing his love for hunting slowing down, looked very similar to what happened to me and I didn't want him to lose that desire for hunting. This was his last chance to have the experience before he graduates and leaves for two years and then gets into school/medical school. I was hoping it would stoke his hunting fire within! And it did.

Congrats to your son. Great Buck and even better that it was a youth harvest.

Why does he have to "leave for 2 years"? Mission?

What a awesome deal. That is one nice buck.
You're a man at the top of the class for doing that for him.
Tell him good luck on his mission from the MM crew.

Very nice....

Cancer doesn't discriminate...don't take your good health for granted because it can be gone in a heartbeat. Please go back and read the last line. This time really understand what it says.

If possible I would like to hear some of the story. I was first in that country in '67 and would like to hear of a few spots to re-kindle the memories.

That mount turned out great.
