My Boys First Buck ... 4x4

My stepson, Anden, took his first buck just before dark last night. We setup above where we'd seen a couple small ones a few days ago and to my surprise this 4x4 showed himself. Far better than I would have expected he'd do, given it's a general season Utah spot and there were lots of hunters that had been hunting the area.
He connected with his first and only shot at 206 yards. Super exciting!

The most fun I have had is hunting with my sons. The excitement and happiness is awesome. Congrats to you and your son.

He is going to get the impression that it isn't that hard to kill a big buck. Congratulations. The body on that buck looks huge. He would have looked like a tank if he was standing next to a little fork horn. I'm guessing you boned him out on the mountain. Did you weigh the meat when you got home? I know we normally only score antlers on this site but it looks like 80-90 pounds of boned out meat to me.

I didn't weigh the meat. But based on how it felt on my back and how my back felt the day after, I'll say it weighed in at about "A LOT". Ha ha
The angle of the photos with the body closer to the camera than the head, makes it appear bigger bodied than what it was.

Don't You know By now You're suppose to be making the HeadGear Look Bigger?

Not the Body!:D

Nice Job Guys!

Back Me Off to 1,700 Yards,650 is a Little Close & I'm Not Comfortable with it!

A GUT SHOT at 1,700 Yards will Still Make Some Good BRAGGIN Rights so I Can Say I At Least Hit Him!

Great job by you and your son! Reminds me of many years ago I killed a dink-antlered 3x3. When I walked up to him, in his big-bodied splendor, he looked kinda funny. Not so much the angle, this one appears to be a hog-bodied muley, too!

Congratulations young man great job awesome memories fun times, that buck sure has a big body. Lots of meat for the freezer.

))))???>

That's awesome.....congratulations to the young man and kudos to dad!
