holding points

I am trying to figure out where I want to build points and how long I plan on holding them. Right now I can pull off two-three out of state hunts each year depending on how I stack the days/seasons.

So if you were building points which state would you hunt every year or so, every 4-6 years and 10-20 years.

Right now the plan is to hunt Idaho every year, Utah/Nevada 2-4 years, Wyoming when I have enough points for G, have no clue what I want to do in Colorado???

Anyways for people who have this down a little better than me what rotation do you do as you are building points. I want to hunt more than I want to build points but also understand a few points here an there might add up to a lot better hunt. I just don't want to build points for no reason but also know I can only hunt so many areas in one year anyway.

Thanks

I hunt Wyoming, Colorado and Utah every year, but time is running out for Wyoming and Colorado. Each get a little tougher every year. That's for mule deer. I might have to start hunting something else I guess. Or, just spend more time scouting and live through someone else pulling the trigger.

For Mule Deer...

Archery hunt every year in Jan in AZ

Pick a unit you can unit every couple years in CO.

Nevada, Utah and Wy are longer term plays, at least for me.

cmbbulldog- Az, Archery OTC or are you drawing Kiabab/Strip tags? I'm hunting muley OTC Jan. 1st. tough hunt, combo with Pig.
DIRTCLOD Az.

OTC.

I don't do that hunt anymore, as I live in CO.... but when I lived in AZ, I always did. Can be great. Chased a bunch of big bucks thru the years.

Great option for those that want to do multiple out of state hunts in a year, especially since its in January and doesn't really conflict with many other hunts.

Being a teacher taking time off work is sometimes a challenge so the more I plan these hunts out the more likely i can pull them off.

I think as a I build points for each state it will be a little easier to start trading out hunts.

Since I am starting at year 1 for Colorado, Nevada and Utah. I am trying to figure out which state I should put in the every 2-3 year hunt, 3-5 year range and the long term 10plus year.

Thinking right now the plan will be to do a Muzz/Bow hunt in Utah every 2 years or so. Hunt Idaho every year in Oct. Plus a couple out of state bird hunts over Thanksgiving and Christmas.

That leaves me with building points for Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming. I will cash the Wyoming points in for G when I get enough. I am at 5 now and then see about hunting H non wilderness to get more hunts in. Not sure if I should let Nevada or Colorado build for a OIL tag.

The goal is to hunt quality animals on every hunt with the chance of trophy deer (180plus) if everything works out. I know this is everyone's plan but running out of state to hunt 2 and 3 point deer is not goal. I have great hunts in California that accomplish the 2-3 point deer thing:)

Next probably is figuring out how to add in Elk and goat hunts to the mix. Only so much time....
