Hey guys. Finally joined the group after following along for the past few years. Anyways a few buddies and I have a trip planned for Nebraska to go chase muleys on the pine ridge near Chadron. Curious if anyone has hunted here and can maybe give me some insight on what to expect for weather, terrain, pressure, etc... We are planning on the first week of October with our bows. Thanks and I look forward to contributing to the forums!

typed up a response then realized it was too detailed and sent it via PM. Good luck!

One of the big bowhunting boards used to do a trad group hunt there for several years, if you use some google fu you can probably find it.

DoeNob, Id be interested in hearing what you have to say about the area. The fort Robinson area has always held deer but seems to be really down the past few years for mule deer. Definitely some good whitetails in the creek bottoms, how has the mule deer herd rebounded?

I dont' think mule deer are in great shape on public in the western half of the state. Theres' some ok bucks on private north of the freeway on ag land - all about access.

For OTC archery, I think you are better suited to drive north one state and bow hunt mule deer in South Dakota.
