What do you think happened to this buck?

Lion kill or lost by an archer.
Holed out in a nasty place to fine.

He died, but I don't know why. It was a bummer when I saw photos of the deadhead.

LAST EDITED ON May-11-18 AT 04:31PM (MST)[p]I don't know...??? It wasn't a bad winter that year. Maybe he was just old. Or maybe a cat got him. Or maybe someone wounded him. He did a good job of disappearing on me. I think I saw him late in the hunt, off that north side, but only a short look. Can't say for absolute certainty, but I think it was him.
Anyway, maybe someone wounded him and he just hid up the rest of the hunt and then the wound got him during the winter. I don't know. I sure wish I knew though.

He was found dead on the winter range.

Thanks for the reply. I always wondered what happend to him. That area has lots of hiding spots for deer to disappear.

I missed a 38 inch monster last year at 187 yards. We never turned him up again. I've replayed it over and over. We found a hole in the tree behind him that clearly showed the shot was over him. I still wonder were he hid up the rest of the season.

I will be looking for him again this year.

I hope you find him man. Yes, those bucks are good at hiding out. It's hard to get them even when you know exactly where they live. Some come easy, most don't. That's what makes it fun.
