Hey gang. . new to the site but excited to be here. Got super lucky and my group drew the early rifle hunt on the kaibab 12a East. I've read all the sites that I can find, watched all the videos that showed up on google (not as many as I thought would be there), bought a topo map, and am preparing to scout my a$$ off for the next 3 months. So thought I would reach out and see if anyone was able or willing to give some pointers for hunting this unit. Everything I have read so far says to hunt high in the early hunt unless they have gotten some weather and it's cold in which case they start coming down. . Planning on hiking a bunch and glassing em up. Any other helpful hints are appreciated (not asking for your honeyhole lol) up to and including good spots to park a 5th wheel as that will be our basecamp. Thanks in advance and I look forward to chatting with you all!

I am a resident of AZ and have hunted Muley's a lot. This is the best tag I think I have ever drawn so just trying to gather as much info as I can. Planning on spending several weekends in the area prior to the hunt. I really didn't expect to draw the tag but got lucky I guess. . . very excited to go on this hunt and whether or not I find or receive any help on this site (see "not looking for anyones honey hole" thread) I plan on putting the work in and having an excellent hunt!

cheers

Thank you. . . have watched all of those videos already! All of them are great and only add fuel to the desire to get out there and see the unit. Headed up this weekend for a quick recon.

cheers

My friend had a tag there a few years ago. Deer were scarce and pretty hard to find. He popped the first 24" 4-point that he found so he could get out of there and hit a New Mexico hunt he had drawn. Big mistake. That night at Jacob Lake Lodge we watched a woman show videos of several bucks between 30 and 35" wide that she had passed on looking for a better one. The NM hunt turned out to be a bust, so he should have spent more time at Kaibab and held out for a good one. Have some patience. The big ones are there, but not easy to find.
