Drew 101-109 GMU for Muleys. This will be my first trip to the Rubies. Already have an idea where I want to be. Just looking to see if anyone can give me a little info on what to expect? Hunting pressure, rainfall, etc. I will be there to scout/hunt on the 8th of August though the 15th. Plan on packing in and staying for the duration. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Unfortuanately that unit has gone to crap. Alot of pressure and alot of lions. Get away from people and hunt high and u might have success. I have gone for the early and late seasons last two years and dodnt see anything worth shooting. It's very green and there is plenty of water up there right now making it and even tougher hunt. My family used to hunt that unit exclusively back in the day and we have all taken some good bucks from there. I have taken three good bucks from 101 but my last was 6 years ago and all archery. The late season is the season to get because alot of monsters come down low due to the snow in the rubies. If you can get up high in the wma you might have better luck. Not alot of people willing to hike in most people road hunt in that unit. These are the three that came from that unit. Good luck

Try Secret Pass 102 side. Trail takes you up and over. No idea of hunting pressure for archery. Only hunted it during rifle. Lamoille Canyon trail. If you like to hike go up and over then up and over again on the next mountain. I don't know the valley that goes west from there. Always nice bucks in there. I use to have great success going north out of Angel Lake trail. Haven't hunted it in awhile. Go back almost to the lake and hunt and spot North. Best of luck.

I planned on walking in Thomas Canyon. Then hunting West towards right fork Lamoille. That's if I can get over the ridge. Thanks for the info.
