I decided to cash in my 18 points and give it hell trying to find a solid buck. I've been down once this year with plans for several more trips and see if I can follow the deer off the top. I'm looking for advice from others who have hunted this before on hunting methods. is it best to find high areas to sit and glass? Push canyons? Drive roads? I have a trailer that I will be staying in that has all the luxuries of home and plan to stay as long as it takes. I'm being told the last few days they added this year will be a completely different hunt. I can't wait for this season to begin its going to be a blast!!!!

I have been down there a few times hunting deer. Glassing and covering ground is the best thing you can do. Or find a few of the water holes and sit those, depending on weather. If it were me, I wouldnt spend anytime right now up top. I would spend all the time down low where you will be hunting and learning the roads, glassing points, water and so on. We made that mistake our 1st time. Yes, it was fun to see the bug bucks in velvet up high, but it was a learning curve to find the bucks and learn the roads during the hunt. And it may have changed now with the new fence, but dont hesitate to hunt south of the Highway.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-26-18 AT 11:31AM (MST)[p]Tough hunt. Lots of deer, lots of bucks, lots of guided hunters... :)

You'll come away happy I'm sure, but enjoy the chance to be there at that time of year, with a gun in your hand. Then dump a 200 incher in the road. :)
