Here he is, my 2018 muzzleloader buck. 31" outside, 6 x 6 plus eye guards and a couple extras around brows. And a terrible pic of a pic from camera from the field

Holy balls. That sucker is a giant. 225 ish?

Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high, keep your eyes fixed to where the trail meets the sky...

I agree. Kinda looks like that bucks sat in the shed for a couple years. Hell the skull plate is nearly the same color as the antlers. But what do I know. Congrats on the awesome deer! Its a GIANT.

Color is weird cuz he was all bloody from velvet hanging off. When i cleaned him up antlers were bone white around bases. I ve been rubbin dirt on em and rubbin on trees but cant get bases to match upper antlers, the grey look is dirt.
I didn t get on here to boost myself up. I thought MM'ers would like to see a nice buck. Someguys have to slam others so they feel better bout themselves.
I dont know when i shot this buck? Keep yer bullsh** comments to yourself. lundellshittalker7.
Sorry i posted at all.

Congrats on a great buck and thanks for sharing the pics. Don't let the negative comments of a few wreck it for the rest of us.

That's the buck of a lifetime and I appreciate you sharing. I'd really like to hear the story, too.

Sorry i got hot, i have little expereince w social media so i didnt think about how freely bs flows from jealous or grumpy people.
Lundell, this is what an early season buck looks like. Then you clean it up and antlers are white after you pull hanging velvet. Then you try to get xolor back into it. It looks grey, then you oil it up and hopefully it looks natural.

I hunted hard in 80* heat and chased rumors of bucks sighted, killed here, etc. Only good buck i saw was a nice wide buck day b4 season that i believe was killed about a mile away 3 days later. I finally backpacked in 5 miles with 3 days remaining and ran into a group of three that had been hunting area i planned to hunt. They killed only a 160 class buck and saw no other shooters.
I went the opposite way those guys had been hunting where i had found small water seep in aspen patch near timber/north face. Saw several smaller bucks that am as i walked top. I crashed through headhigh brush towards bottom and jumped up a BIG buck. I got to his bed and prepared to skirt edge of aspen and open meadow, below brushy hillside.
About 5 minutes later he circled back around, headed to his same bed. I was there and watched him from about 100 yds, across open grassy meadow, closing distance in early am sunlight with velvet dangling from his bloody antlers. He got within 50 yds and i aimed my new Accura V2 behind his front shoulder and shot. He got uphill and i ran up there to lay eyes on him while i was going to reload but it was not needed. He fell over and took some last breaths and i was pretty amazed at what had occurred.

Wow! What a fantastic buck! He's awesome. Good for you.

Here's slightly better version than the tablet shooting pic of the camera screen! Lighting was weird because of sun through aspens, self timer, getting hot so i really wanted to start cutting...

He is a great buck and i sure was lucky to run across him in such a hot and crowded muzzleloader season. I pulled velvet around bases and they were bonewhite underneath. Through much trial and error i now have him lookin super chocolatey... it looks natural to a late season buck, but not for early season... it is okay but i ll keep workin at it. Got a few months til cape is tanned and taxi is ready for antlers back.

Thanks for the comments and hope everyone makes some great memories and gets chances at great bucks in the rest of the 2018 seasons!

Hey HiCountry!

I Seriously Thought You were Messin with us!

I thought some of you were questioning my integrity, thinking i was reporting an old buck as a new kill... thats why i got very ticked off. I will never forget the details of this hunt, for sure! And i have no purpose to lie to anyone.

I'm wary of these "buck of a lifetime" comments! I sure hope not! Don't let my woman read those or she won't think i should keep spending so much time out there lookin for the big ones! There s always a bigger one, or ANOTHER one out there. I ll be on the trail of 3 bucks i saw in 2017 in another unit, but i ll love it if i draw same tag as this year!
