Hey guys I'm an avid whitetail archery hunter in my home state of West Virginia. I'm planning my first ever Mule deer hunt for 2019 but I'm lost. The way the western states do things is totally different from where I'm from. Here you just buy a license and go hunting. I'm confused with all the different units and points. I have not picked any one state to hunt I'm just looking to buy an over the counter tag and hunt public land. If any of you guys can help get me started I would be so thankful. I've watched alot of youtube videos of people having great success with general season tags. I'm just new and need help please.

Lots of info online on each state website. All states have some kind of draw for certain tags. Some states use points to decide who gets what tags. Idaho does a straight draw with everyone gets the same odds. Some states offer OTC tags for some species and archery too. Takes a lot of research but its worth it. I grew up in WV as well.
