I can't remember hearing of so many giant bulls taken in the past. Right now there was the monster 418" bull killed with one of the Gov tags here in AZ. Been hearing about a monster bowkill from unit 8 in AZ that is supposed to measure over 450" gross with a net in the high 430's...OUCH! I've heard of several 370" archery bulls out of unit 10 in AZ with one going 391" with 63" beams! Archery season is just half over now, who knows what else will be taken. Looks as if the Indian reservations are getting a run for their money this year. Although, I'm positive they'll pop out with some biggins. I've received pictures of a monster 7x11 NT from the San Carlos that grosses 425". A tribal member killed it. The left 3rd point has about a 15" drop tine off of it, it's crazy! Sure wish I had a tag this year. Of course I had to get drawn last year on the worst droubt in AZ history, oh well. Good luck to all whose hunts are yet to be over and yet to even start.

I hear you. And the archery hunts aren't even over yet. Before this year is over there are going to be a ton of huge bulls taken. I sure wish I had a tag. Haven't heard much from the other states though.

As good as we think it is this year.. I am betting that next year will be better!!! All of the Rain that Northern and Eastern Arizona got this year and all of the snow that they are forcasting.. Next year will be the year

i was out helping a friend on his elk hunt this weeked and i still cant believe how many bull i saw that were over 350" we were in monster bulls every day. maybe the azgfd will be nice to me next year and give me an elk tag. now every body is going to hear about all of these 390" + bulls that have been taken and it will be even harder to get a tag next year.

Man, I wish I could do a hunt in Arizona some day. Some of those pics of those bulls are huge. Here in Idaho we have some great elk but I have never seen enything like the bulls that are coming out of Arizona. Is it like that every year? Might have to put in for a hunt next year....

And its not over yet guys. A friend of mine drew a bull elk tag in our home state of Nevada, Thats like hitting the mega bucks. We have been up scouting and have seen some bulls 350 and up.i will send a report when we get back.

Here are some pictures I received from a Jesse, will let him tell the story about his very first Bull, what a beauty.

I killed this bull at 8:OO the last morning of the hunt.I had been hunting all season and had only seen one bull.I had gotten pretty discouraged but decided to go the last day and drag it out.We heard him bugling and started cow calling. He came to within 20 yards and I was so excited I couldnt pull my release,so he walks closer and the final shot was 12 yards.I doubled lunged him and within 10 seconds of the shot he dropped. It took us 9-1/2 hours to go 1/2 mile.I was so sore the next day, whos complaining? He is my first bull ever.

I would have do agree, this is a banner year. I just returned from 10 and couldn't believe the numbers of quality bulls we saw running around. Here is a pict of the bull I took last Fri, He grosses 363, had he not been broken up he would have grossed in the mid 70's.

keith,
Great bull, I drew a late rifle tag for 10 and have seen some nice bull but nothing of that caliber, would you be willing to provide the general location you hunted in unit 10.

There was just an interview on KNAZ out of Flagstaff on this bull. Apparently the hunter is out of Peoria, Az., and took the bull in Unit 8 after scouting it for 5 weeks. They did not show any video on it, only stills. The score was put at 439". The hunter stated he has the bull in an "undisclosed" location pending obtaining an insurance policy on it and has already turned down an offer of 1 million dollars for it. Can't wait for my Unit 8 rifle bull tag in November. What a toad! Great year for antler growth. Mark

$1 million dollars? There's no way that is legitimate. My friend Alan owns the world record typical elk at 442 5/8" net and was never offered over $125k for it I think. I'm not trying to take anything away from his monster 439", it just seems that I hear a lot of bogus prices thrown around in the antler business I'm in and that just seems to confuse everything. If it is legit, good for him but I highly doubt it.

Hey I just heard of a monster 430" gross bull killed in 3C and another bull killed on the Supai rez that grosses over 430+" and when the bull fell after being shot he broke off a 12" point, should've grossed over 440". I think it was shot with a bow also. I've also heard of some other 400's but I'm waiting to see if their legit before I post anything. Anyone heard of the one from 3C or have pics?

Josh

I was e-mailed some pics. of 2 good Nevada archery bulls
today, would anyone care to see or post the photos? I also
have some of the 427" bull killed last year if interested.

Wow great bulls. I stopped by the trappers den taxidermist in Lakeside he does most of the elk for the White mtn. apache tribe hunts and it was amazing the bulls they had this year I seen 9 bulls that were over 390 gross and most of them were well over 400 if you get a chance stop over in Lakeside at the Trappers Den and check them out.

What an awsome year... I have seen pics of 5 bulls so far in Az over 400... unit 1 was the Az Elk Society auction tag I saw the pics and I thought I heard 417. Unit 9 had a 402 Az raffle tag the Res has a bull in the 420 range and the unit 8 bull... the one not mentioned on here is out of 3C gross 440 net 430 I have pictures but I cannot post them. Looks like a new #1 and #2 non typical archery in Az this year.
