My father put in and got drawn for this unit for muzzleloader cow elk on the advice of his friend who is familiar with this area. Unfortunately he is unable to accompany him due to serious illness. Therefore, I will be stepping in to assist. Unfortunately, this is not an area we are real familiar with. I have one more weekend to scout before the hunt and any suggestions public or private would be appreciated

Hey AZHNTRMAN if you take highway 260 just past the Woods Canyon turn off maybe 5 miles up you'll hit FR 99. Take it back in until you hit FR 170 and take it back to either FR 175 or you can keep going until you hit FR 504 and make a big loop of the unit. I would make the loop first because you get to look at both the timber and the PJ's in the northern part. Seen a few different batches of cows and calves on the 175 rd just before you connect back to the 99. Good luck! Hope it helps!

Thanks Chevayala. I was up last Sunday not really knowing where to go and I actually was in the area you mentioned. I did not take the 154 all the way to the PJ's though before I bailed out and hit the 99. I saw some fresh sign near the power lines but that was about it. Only thing I saw off the 175 were campers. Actually there were campers evwerywhere and there was not even a hunt in progress!

Yeah there was a few camps when I was up there but they were mostly hunters. Maybe once the hunt begins you'll see less of them. Well you can also try the 172 off the 175 as it takes you down between some ridges and you will come out on top with the power lines. I have seen both bulls and cows running back and forth between draws in the early morning. Good luck buddy I hope your hunt is a sucess.
