Any suggestions on where to flush my 13 points for Mule Deer in Colorado? I have been putting in for the late hunt in 21, but it sounds like finding a big buck there is not so easy any more. Like everyone, I want a monster, but realistically I would take a nice buck (26" good forks four point).

Howdy.........
Did you see "Mark's Heavy Colorado Muley" from Colorado unit 21?... If not take a look and also check this 2005 http://www.huntinfool.com/articles/RalphSchuette_CO-Story.html story... My brother-in-law and I have 12 points for deer and elk in Colorado that we have been building for our retirement which happens to be this year. We are also looking for the same thing you are, a good muley in the 26" plus range with good forks... Next year we plan on using our points for an elk hunt.... Unit 10 and 21 are tops on our list with the NW corner units 1 2 & 201 also in our sights, but we are open to suggestions....This is my first time posting a message here and I wish the best of hunting luck to all and will be very grateful for any help that is offered........... If anyone knows the number of points needed to draw the above units I'd be very grateful for the info......... I know the # comes out in the next Colorado Outdoors magazine but would like any info ahead of time.......... Ron

Ron,

You can get the PDF that shows what it takes to draw each hunt on the CDOW website. Good luck

I commend you guys. I'd never have the patience to build 12 or 13 points. And if I did, I'd likely go home empty and not with a 26 incher. After 14 years, I'd have to get a big trashy 220 deer to make the wait worthwhile, and would never find one.

Anyway, congrats on your patience and keep us posted on how the hunts turn out.

Damn!!!!!!

I am 90% positive that I watched that buck this year throughout the summer and tried to get a friend on to him in the muzzleloader season.

I was hoping he would he would be around next year when I have a chance at drawing that tag.

dakota52 I have 15 points for elk and I don't have a chance for a tag in the NW part of the state...Devlin

LAST EDITED ON Jan-29-07 AT 07:59PM (MST)[p]Westernsky..I'm pretty sure that buck was killed two seasons ago and NOT last season..so your buck could still be around..

I didnt notice the dates on the article. That is a fortunate mistake since that buck may indeed be still around. Nice!!!!

I have seen a handful like that in the last 7 yearsin 21/30 but you have to know where to look and get a little lucky.
