I'm in the process of deciding which to apply for next year. If anyone has experience (pro or con) with some northern UT CWMUs, any info would be appreciated. Mostly I'm interested in how the operators are to deal with, such as rules on access, etc, not on the animals themselves. Thanks John

Call the operator of the units you are interested in. You should be able to get an idea of how they are. If possible, see if you can't get some references of past hunters.

Pull up this years Draw Results on the utah website and get the address of folks who drew this year and get a current review of how the hunt went. They don't put the city in the draw results but with the name and the street addy it isn't very hard to do a little phone book work and get a hold of a couple of them. My dad drew the Florence/Weber for moose on year and for elk the next year and both species where present and had some decent bulls. I bought a vouchure tag for deer one year so I could hunt with him and had my chance at a couple of real nice bucks but was holding out. On the moose tag for my dad, he had the whole dang northern end to himself, like 20,000 acres, on the elk tag he had the whole south end of the ranch with the other 6-7 tag holders and there was elk everyday, not any slammer 350 type bulls but a few okay 6x6's 290-310 class and all kinds of 5x5's. When he tagged out on his moose, the operator and some of his guides came to the kill site and got the bull down to a dirt road and loaded it into my dads truck whole!! haha what a sight that was driving home behind him!!
Most of the CWMU draw odds are less than 1 in 10 if they have 2 tags in the draw so your odds are fairly good comparing to the Limited Entry elk unit odds.
