That's a nice bull, but I am more impressed with the fact you used the word "Incredulous", and spelled it right! LOL

He's a damn nice bull. One your cousin should be proud of. Congrats. So if I get over there to hunt next fall will you put me on one that big?

Very nice rack that your cousin's elk has. Gotta love those nontypicals off the g-4's. If my elk this year looked like that, I'd have him chained to the garage also. Congrat's on a good hunt with great results.

the chain is so nobody steals the rack. yest IDK i will try to get you one that big, although I doubt it will be an 8X8, by the way, this will be the obnly 8X8 in the oregon record book. It is also my 19 year old cousins first elk.

That's a beaut! Gotta love those nontyp elk. Coincidently my ex is from Cove,OR too. She lives in Boise now, and was driving to work the other morning and saw a dog running down the street with a huge deer rack in his mouth - another good reason to have a chain on those. I gave her a hard time for not stopping and grabbing them out of the dogs mouth.

That's a great looking set of antlers but I still haven't seen a picture that gives it some perspective to give it that huge look. You need to take your cousin out in front of a pine tree and get him to extend his arms out a ways while holding it. Turn it at an angle where you can see most of the points and get as close as you can with the camera.

The mistake I made when I first started measuring elk antlers was to measure the main beam AND the sixth points. All of a sudden the 350+ sheds were 334.

Great Bull~! Thanks for posting the pics...I have to wonder if the chain will cause any chaffing on the antler.

Some of those close ups are sweet, especially the nontyp parts around the swords!

Nice one!

to see it better I lightened up the first pic

Maybe you can see it a little better. Maybe my eyse are bad.

At that angle it looks like that black dog is chewing on a tine! You didn't need those last few inches anyway. ;)

Congrats to your cousin on a fantastic first bull!

LAST EDITED ON Jan-12-04 AT 09:34PM (MST)[p]I killed a bull much like this one with the same brow tines, and very similar back points, but without the nontypical points. That bull scored in the 260's.
