I saw a report from Jeremy250 (congrats Jeremy), but haven't seen any other reports coming in.

Surely someone else scored on opening weekend. I have to live vicariously through you this year, so let's hear some stories!

Stan,
As you know, I had a tag in unit 9. On Monday morning in the fog, I shot a pretty, 323", wide 6x7. Hopefully, I can get the photos scanned and posted with the story.

My 15 year old son scored on his 1st bull Saturday morning a nice 6 x 6. I missed the bull of my dreams Friday(380+) had the opportunity to take a few smaller bulls but passed. Hunted unit 10 and had a great trip.

Congratulations on you and your boy's success, him for tagging his first and you for being along to share in the experience. Good for you guys! Try and post a pic of the kid with his elk.

I'll be hunting next week in unit 10 with my 15 year old daughter who announced her desire to hunt this year. She attended hunter ed and earned her card and has been planning this hunt since August.
Did you guys see quite a few antlerless elk? It's kinda weird how the late antlerless hunt can be feast or famine. What part of 10 were you guys hunting in?

Good going guys. I was at home DREAMING I had an Arizona Archery Bull permit. :)

We camped north of Mt. Floyd about 1/2 mile from schafer tank and we did see alot of cows, in fact I saw cows each of the 9 days we where there. If your plan to hunt in the general area and want specific locations I would be happy to share.

Thanks for the reports everyone. Sounds like folks are having a good time up north!

Doug, congrats on your bull! Sounds like a nice one; can't wait for the pics!

Doug-

My crystal ball was off a little, but not too far. Congrats on a fine bull!

Congrats to all those how tagged out as well! Good to see success out there.

I am hearing a report out of Unit 9 that a big bull was just killed.. 403 gross and 391 green... Anybody else heard this?

I have not heard this... I know it's not my bull, because mine usually suffer some ground shrinkage, not swellage. I'll keep my ears open here in Flag.

I went with Shane Koury as my guide. We were in 3A and 3C and saw lots of elk. For those of you unfamiliar with Shane, he has guided 5 hunters to bulls over 400 points in the last 4 seasons. In my experience, especially in Montana and Colorado, most professional guides never see a 400+ bull, much less have a client take one.
As far as my hunt, we ended up hunting the area burned in the Rodeo-Chediski fire last year This past Monday morning, 11/17, Shane cow called a nice 6 by 6 bull into me. It scored 335 with beautiful front tines and a lot of mass.
By the way, most of you know that two humongous bulls were arrowed this season in Arizona. One hunter was unguided and the other was guided by Shane and scored 440+. It was to be offically scored this past Friday, so stay tuned.

The reports are true. I talked to the hunter last night-he is a former student of mine. Great guy. I also saw pics of another Flagstaff hunter who got a massive 7x7 out of 6b. It scores 409 if I remember correctly. Yeppers, some lifetime bulls have been taken this year.
For a very unsubstantiated rumor, the local game butcher told me that he was told of a bull out of unit 10 that surpasses the Franlin bull.

yes there was a bull out of unit 9 that scored 391 I have seen pics a it is a awesome looking bull.

My hunting partner and I both got 6x6 bulls in the unit 1 late hunt. One was a 330 class bull and the other bull will probably gross about 350. I will try to post the pictures soon.
