Has anybody seen this new video/dvd? Sounds good but would like to hear if anybody has seen it and what they think.
Jeff

How much beer is consumed on the video? I will take the over on that bet. :)

Seriously, I have never heard of it and I find myself on the San Carlos 4 or 5 times a year hunting or fishing. It should be good, they have some God Awful bulls on that place.

That was filmed last Fall with a friend of mine involved (some absolutely AWESOME bulls!). Not for the $-impaired, though ...

Order it last week. I'll let you know when i have watched it. I believe Steve Chappell was involved with the video so it should be good.
Jason

Where do you order it from? I saw a clip of it at the San Carlos booth during the Sportmans's Expo and they didn't have any for sale. There are some monsters on there and I wouldn't mind picking up a copy.

I'll give you my address,
send it to me and i'll send you a buck,
I'll watch it and send it to the next guy.
who will also send you a buck. so on and so on.
figure in a couple weeks its payed you back and its still yours,
think that it could be handled here on this line using the same forum entry, it just keeps updating its self.

I ordered the Elk Hunting with San Carlos Apaces Video at Kings Outdoor World but still haven't received it yet.

I will be living and working in the San Carlos for the next year and a half. I hope to see some awesome animals. sadly I will not be able to pick up what they leave behind. Maybe I can legally take some photos, however, im not even sure I can do that. The Jicarilla Apaches charge a $500.00 fee to take photos

I am new to the forum, and actually viewed this video recently. All I can say is WOW. The San Carlos has some bulls that are absolutely unbelievable.

The video is a must see for the elk hunting fanatic. I seriously don't know if there was a bull under 380 shown on the tape. It is scary really.

Have fun watching.....

I finally received the video and watched it. Unbelievable. The best Elk video i have seen. The Video is full of 370 + elk. Why would anyone pay $100,000 plus for an auction when they could hunt on the San Carlos for $25,000 and have a better hunt???? Must see video!!

Jason

Indians or not, they have monster bulls on the rez and can manage them how they please. They are obviously doing a hell of a job. And I hope you werent implying they have canned hunts on San Carlos! It couldnt be further from the truth.
Anyway, my father-in -law stoppped by the rez F&G office in San Carlos and bought the video, watcthed it and sent it to me. I received it today and watched it twice aleady! Yep it is now my new favorite elk hunting video! Its awesome! There is 4 kills and tons of other huge bulls called in and put on video. i wouldnt be suprised if the new world record came off there even though in 1997 a 502 gross bull was shot on the San Carlos.

Crazy, how did you get a job on the rez. No offense but are you indian? What will you be doing there? I envy you!
Jeff

ELKMASTER-Using the term "red skins"? What the !@#$ is that all about? Maybe I'll refer to you using the term ingnoranthonkywhitetrashcracker(caucasian). A reservation is a sovereign nation within the US and they can run their hunts however they want to. All your crying about it won't change a thing. However it sounds like you are an elk hunting expert and I am waiting to hear about your new world record you are going to kill. On your own on public land for under a thousand bucks of course. You are the man brotha! Please post pictures when you kill him. Being that you are from IOWA you live in the prime elk hunting grounds and know way better places to hunt than the crappy San Carlos. Post some pictures dude. Oh yeah like Cohntr said are you implying that the San Carlos hunts are canned? If you are then you are completely out of your ignorant mind. Have you even been there before? The place is huge and there are no high fences on it at all. The animals cross in and out as they please. If you don't know your way around out there YOU would probably be whimpering by the road, sucking your thumb, crying for your mommy. I am still laughing about you using the term "red skins". Come on down to Arizona and throw that term around. All you would have to do is decide on a tombstone and last rites. Pretty easy to sit in Iowa and use those terms behind a computer aint it tough guy. Email me at [email protected] for directions here and you can explain yourself in person and maybe teach me how to kill a world record. I'll even show you around the town San Carlos and introduce you to my friends. You could even call them "red skins" in person! Or even tell them what ripoff artists they are! Maybe you could even teach THEM how to kill the big bulls! Dude you are such a stud!!!!

Hey Chinochief, I understand you are probably a bit pissed but dont let ignorant comments like that get you going. I am guessing you live on the rez, and I 'll bet he hasnt set foot on San carlos. I have been there a couple times (once for the awesome quail hunting) and the place is awesome. Anyway have you seen the video?
Take er easy!
Jeff

LAST EDITED ON Apr-18-04 AT 10:31PM (MST)[p]Hey cohntr, no I don't live on the San Carlos but comments like that do get me going. My invitation still stands for him to come visit us down here. It's funny that some guys like to put their foot in their mouth and look like an a$$ on an internet forum. I would like to see what reply this moron is going to post. You're right, he has probably never set foot on the San Carlos. I almost fell out of my chair laughing when he said "canned hunts" and to put people in the real world. If a couple million acres of undeveloped, non-high fenced terrain aint real nature than I don't know what is. The hunting there is open to ANYBODY not just tribal members. No, I haven't seen the video yet but Tim Stevens shoots a hog with his bow. I'll probably pick up a copy this week though. You said it, the place really is awesome! Have you been to the Hualapai rez? That place is awesome too! Those guys kill some giants there also. My friend Cody Bravo guided a hunter to a 400plus typical 6 by 7 there last year. If you are ever in AZ look me up or email me at [email protected]

Hey there cohntr6, Just to make your envy a bit more painful, not only am i going to be working out there but I will be mapping out there. This will put me everywhere I want to be. We picked up the mapping contract and I am totally excited about it. It should be about a year and a half of work. so i will be there during the RUT. woohooo. I dont know exactly how it will work with me being able to take photos but I sure hope I'm allowed.

Shedcrazy

Hey Shedcrazy, is the tribe going to make a new map? I know they ran out of their old one they printed a long time ago. It is still a good map though. You are allowed to photo and video out there as long as it is for your own private use. Oh yeah I envy your job too!

No doubt guys that I am very blessed with the job i have. This has put me in all sorts of awesome big game country including the Jicarilla apache reservation mapping. Too fun and pays well enough too.

Chino, check back with the council in about a year and a half. they will have an entire new landbase and may or may not be distributed.

Have not had a chance to see this video but it sounds like one for the collection. I can not see where the idiotic reference to red skins and canned hunts was made but there is still folks in this country living with a 1800's mentality but you have to ask the Creator for help with them.

If you want canned hunts just watch Spirit of the Wild or any of the hunts on Outdoor channel where whitetails are hunted.

Never been south of Vegas myself but I have met some people from that part of the country who have enlightened me on the hunting down south so I will put that on my to do before I die list.

Have a good day

I bought this DVD a couple of weeks ago.. I have watched it at least 6 times.... WOW WOW WOW.... huge bulls... I would have taken just about every bull they passed... 4 kills and at least 20 bulls over 360.I have been letting my buddies see it so I am now having withdrawals.. lol.. Seriously Steve Chappell did a hell of a job on this video... The last bull taken with a bow by Tim Stevens grosses over 430.They film this bull chasing cows and running off other BIG bulls for at least 5 or 10 min before a cow leads him to his demise...they have footage of bulls fighting and playing in wallows.. probably the best
elk video I have seen... expensive ($20) but I think it is worth it....
