Hey guys, I just found out I drew an elk combination tag in Montana.
Can't wait til September-Hatrick

I think I'll either hunt the Missions or the Bob ;) I may go try and eek out my little piece of happiness in the breaks with the other 2000 people in 410. But more than likely I'll just end up hunting in the SW part of the state somewhere chasing rag horns.

I will try and get your blood pumping. I got this set of sheds from unit 410. I don't know what they score. But fun to look at.

awesome set. That drop tine is unique. have you seen this bull on foot? If not, I would spend all my time trying to locate him. Very Nice!

I think its $600 for a general licence, and $1000 for an outfitter subsidized licence.

410 is an unlimited area for archery and limited for gun. Last year there was about 2400 archers that put in. Killing about 160 bulls or something. Their is some monsters for sure but finding a place away from all the people is a joke. If I remember right the fish and game said that there is about 9000 head on the north side of the missouri from unit 410 to the end of Fort Peck (don't rememember what unit that is). Their fairly concentrated however, and a good share are on private land, so you can imagine the number of people hammering what little public there is!

To me fighting the crowds and tring to find an elk that hasn't been call educated is about like hunting martians. Good luck if you decide to go next year or for any who decide to go this year.

drew my tags first year drawing i have a buddy that lives in montana and will be hunting the "bob" he tells me there's an area that's just "filthy" with elk said he's seen a good number of 6 point there if not there i'll head for galliton i know they're big there.

what it cost a non-res. to hunt elk?
what are the chances of getting drawn?
do you have to hire a guide to hunt wilderness areas?
I just found out that a good friend of mine, brother owns and runs a resort. somewhere with in 5 miles of the yellowstone boarder.
he's coming here in a week to his neises graduation
we are going to get to gether over at my place and talk.

Raftr, your buddy might be BS-ing. Be ready for a tough hunt. Don't know where you are headed specifically, but the "BOB" is not a walk in the park. mtmuley

Hey Elkmaster let me know were this ranch is. I'll scout it out for to make sure it's worthy of your tag. Just kidding but I am curious as to were it is.
