THE ONLY bobcat THINKING:BY THE TIME I DRAW THE TAG I'LL BE SO CRIPPLED I'LL HAVE TO FIND SOMEBODY TO WHEEL ME AROUND IN A WHEELCHAIR!!!

RE: IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The DWR sent me an email saying that my dad was successful for LE Wasatch Mountains Elk Any Weapon! That'll be fun.
I was unsuccessful for my LE Fish Lake Muzzleloader Elk.

RE: IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still havent gotten an email.......but my credit card was charged the $180.00 fee for an LE Elk tag. I put in for the Manti with only 2 bonus points, so needless to say I am suprised I drew, but im stoked as hell!!

ALRIGHT TUFF,HOW MUCH GREENBACK DID YOU SLIP IN???

EVIDENTALLY ALOT MORE THAN I SENT!!!

THE ONLY bobcat WONDERING WHY SOMEBODY DRAWED MY TAG WITH ONLY 1/4 THE BONUS POINTS AS ME???(MAYBE THE DWR WANTS ME AS AN APPLICANT AGAIN NEXT YEAR JUST FOR THE CASH TIP???)

RE: IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BOBCATBESS,

I'll admitt, I think it sucks that there are guys that have been trying for 20 years to draw this tag, and I have dumb luck and drew it,.......but Im also not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. I was fully expecting to earn another bonus point this year...:)

As far as the extra greenbacks go, you should know that a poor cop barely has enough for the tag, let alone any extra tips. Im going to have to get a part time job just to afford the gas for all my scouting trips, equiptment, taxidermy, etc. :)

bobcatbess;
Just so your not to disappointed, let me relate what happened to me:
2 years ago, I drew out on a great CWMU, and was fortunate enough to harvest a 365 bull. It was one of the greatest thrills in my life.
But now, I can not get excited about elk hunting. After you harvest a trophy animal, you are no longer satisfied with harvesting a spike, or a small bull. I know I will never be able to match the bull I shot, so I kind have lost interest in Elk Hunting.
Sometimes the anticipation of an event, is better than the event itself, or least the aftermath of the event.

Becareful what you wish for.......it might come true!!!

RE: IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deadduck,
Sorry to hear that you have lost interest in Elk hunting. I believe people get to caught up in antler hunting. Trophy antlers are just a bonus... the hunting experience is worth so much more... how can you not be excited and thrilled to have a opportunity to hunt this majestic animal... the trill of being in the field hear their bugle and the mews of the cows.... man I get goose bumps just thinking about it... whether I am chasing cows, spikes or bulls... the excitement is always there. I did not have a tag last year but did go with a buddy and his brother in law... I would go out and scout different areas for them every day... listening to the bulls bugle, my blood was flowing .. I called in several bulls and got them on video.. one young 6x6 to 18 yards.... even though I had no tag it was one of the best hunts I have been on....

RE: IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deadduck:

Just give another form of elk hunting a try. Bowhunting and muzzleloading are two sure fire ways to get you excited whether you ever harvest another animal or not.

There's nothing like being 12 yards from a dinker bull. Even if they are only a spike or raghorn, it's still one of the most exciting things you can experience.

Now if I could just kill one of the buggers. I get them in right close a few times a year and still can't get a shot off without them busting me. Some day!

I'll have to say the anticipation after 20 years of this is getting old for me though. Both the trying to draw and the actual harvesting of a bull elk with my bow.

Cheers,
Pete

RE: IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree you need to give bowhunting elk a try! I have not killed one with a bow yet but it is a rush to have one come in to ya!

RE: IT'S OFFICIAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deadduck, man, you are hunting for the wrong reasons. If I killed a 485 typ this year I'd continue hunting forever because I love to hunt, with absolutely no chance of ever topping the rack. A 365 on the other hand, yeah, thats a tough one to beat, but thats the beauty of hunting and the woods and all, you NEVER know whats around the next corner!

Good Luck All
