Just looked at the new regs. It appears that at least with respect to archery the number of tags is substantially less this year. I think I will be getting another bonus point again!

In Arizona, tags are allocated in part by using a formula that takes into account the previuos years success rate. Archers really had a great year last year, so the number of archery tags were reduced. Overall, the number of elk tags was increased slightly.

What you need to do is find a new friend with 8 to 10 bonus points and put in with him

Good luck

moms boss had somehwere around 13 bonus points, got drawn last year didnt see an elk the whole trip. does this have anything to do with him smoking while hes walking? or maybe the fact he hunts the roads on his quad? or maybe he doesnt alk more than a mile from the road?

Jim,
I think that most of the tag reduction is from the archery cow hunt. The number of archery bull tags seems to be close to last year's number. Last year the number of archery elk tags was increased by 881. Kind of a see-saw. How's the cabin building going in 6A?

Doug I think I understand the reason the number of tags fluctuates from year to year, it does not mean I have to like it. I suppose it is necessary, I will leave it up to those who know more about it than I do. I think the number of bull tags for some units is down. For example unit 6a shows a pretty good decrease from years past. In any event I think it will make my draw chances that more difficult this year.
As far as the cabin goes, I made a short trip to the property this weekend. I delivered an antique gas stove I picked up this last winter. Have much work to do but it is coming along. Jim

yes i think it will be the same for me the unit6a has increased but that will just draw more attention to the unit so more people will be puting in for the hunt
