Bugling Bulls in B.C.

BC Neighbors,
When would be the best period to hunt Bugling Bulls up there during the month of Sept.??
The reason is a friend is starting to think about a BC hunt for Elk up there for 2005, and wants me to go with him.
The Outfitter said that the two choices would be I think it was Sept. 10-20 or 20-30 of Sept. My thinking is the later, but since either of us have ever hunted north of the border, don't have any idea.
The hunt would be the south eastern area of BC right above Montana, but that is all I know right now.

I've never hunted B.C., but it just so happens I talked to a friend who lives there that does elk hunt there. He says the peak-rut runs from the 17-25 similar as here in Idaho. I'm one who enjoys the last 10 days of the season, although I hunt it all. If you want to hear bulls and accept the challenge of bringing one in close then that's a great time!! elknut1

I would take the first 10 days. I have lived in BC for 19 years and hunted elk for a long time as well as my dad and his friends, we usually always get our elk the first week. Being that Sept 10th is the opening day of riffle season there will be alot of road hunting pounding the roads, so as long as you walk off the roads your friend should be successful. Just curious what area he plans on going to? And what outfitter?

I really don't know much more than this right now, all to told me was the southern area right above Montana. I asked him who the Outfitter was but could not remember the name of the Outfit.

Will talk with him tomorrow and see what he says and hopefully he will remember who the Outfitter is too.

I will tell him you said the first season. Thanks for the response.

If he is going to be hunting in the East Kootenays I personally know the best outfitter in that area with the best chance to get the biggest bulls. The outfitter has a web site, www.shadowmountainoutfitters.com, it isnt much but they take big bulls in an area were there is no road access to so you are the only people out there, it is a quality area. Just letting you know some info.

The bugling bull on the page the link opens. I've already emailed them about it.

And not only is the use a copyright infringement, but they also hosed up the photo when they cropped/resized it by "smashing" the height in comparison to the width. -TONY
