I live here in the neighboring state of Idaho and was wondering if anybody knew the details for putting in for Utah as a non res. prices would be helpful too. Thanks

The application period for Bull Elk Limited Entry Units is in January. The cost next year for NonRes will be around $480. It costs $5 to put in, credit cards accepted. You can buy a bonus point for $5 and not apply for a tag. Archery hunt is End Aug- mid Sept, Rifle is Mid-late Sept, ML is Late Sept-Early Oct.

Antlerless tags this year run $200 or so. Application period ends mid June. Costs $5 to apply. No bonus points used.

General elk permits for rifle, archery and muzzleloader go on sale in mid July. Costs around $300. Rifle amd ML are on quotas and are either Any bull or Spike only depending on the unit. Archery tags are unlimited. Archery is End Aug-Mid Sept, Rifle is begin Oct-Mid Oct, ML is early Nov.

2_point has given you some great information. The only thing to be aware of is that next year's (2005) Non-resident limited entry elk tag cost is taking a huge jump from $483 to $795. This huge increase was approved by the legislature this year to take effect next year.

With the quality of bulls being killed in Utah's limited entry elk units, the price isn't so bad, but it is quite a jump that took a lot of people by surprise.

Good luck in the draw,
Cory

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

LET'S SEE,WE HAVE ALOT OF MONEY BUT WE WANT MORE MONEY!!!

THEY(DWR) WANT TO MAKE 3 OR 4 'PREMIUM' LIMITED ENTRY ELK AREA'S,IF THEY GET THEIR WAY,A RES. TAG WILL BE AROUND A 1000.00 AND AROUND 1500.00 FOR A NON RES. TAG!!!

NOT SO BAD I GUESS,ONCE THEY GET THAT,THE FOLLOWING YEAR WILL BE MORE!!!

YOU'LL HAVE TO TELL YOUR WIVE'S YOU NEED MORE ALLOWANCE MONEY!!!(HE,HE!!!)

THE ONLY bobcat THINKING:1000.00 FOR TAG,(IF YOU'RE LUCKY)1500.00 FOR GAS,10 DAY'S OFF WORK,NEW SET OF BIG O MT'S,WEAR & TEAR,700.00 WORTH OF GRUB,OH WHAT THE HELL,AS LONG AS WE'RE HAVING FUN!!!

Hey Bobcat, you know what's the saddest part of the cost increases? The DWR doesn't get the money straight out. All the license money first goes into the "General Fund" and the DWR then has to go and grovel to the Legislature to get their piece of the pie but wildlife ain't as important as illegal aliens and welfare cases so they'll be lucky to get a raise. Don't worry though we'll have that "special" Alpine Hunt so the deer will quit bringing cougars into the high society backyards and the high dollar flowers and bushes will survive. Can you tell I'm disgruntled?
