LAST EDITED ON Sep-07-04 AT 02:20PM (MST)[p]Here is a picture of a bull my friend killed this past weekend in Wyoming with his bow. I'll try to find out what he scores, but does anybody want to guess in the mean time?

Just a WAG from the angle of the pic, but I'd say somewhere around 270-280. Nice bull with archery tackel!

I agree not much antler but purdy I guess 270 net and 264 gross but this is giving him credit, from the view we all have. He may be deceiving.

Nothing wrong with that bull, especially for archery. But in wont score well as it looks like in all aspects it is a short critter, short beams, short tines and mediocre mass. I'd WAG it around 250"

If thats 350-360 I have shot bigger bulls than I thought. I guess 270-290. I would have shot him in a heartbeat. They always look bigger taking the picture from the back.

Bozeman,
The picture does make the bull look a little bigger than he is but I would still bet he will break 300" even though after taking a second look I don't think he is even close to a 350 class bull. I would guess he is around 320".

Tough to tell at that angle on the wheeler, but I'd guess somewhere around 350.

With such a broad range of guesses I'd sure like to see what this bull actually measures. Kind of interesting how different people see things. Some guys guessed it as low as 240 and some as high as 360--pull a tape on him and let us know!!

I figure 40" beams and 40" spread - his tops are weak (heavy but not long). Lets figure 13" Browtines, 12" G3's, 12" G4's and 6" G5's - figure another 25" in mass (6.5" - 7") measurements - puts the bull around 285 Gross.

I have a bull that scores 295 Gross and 272 Net and they are pretty similar. If the beams and spread are shorter or narrower, drop the score. Tough to tell at this angle - I would shoot him with my bow that is for sure.

I don't get to elk hunt much and where I go any bull over 280 is pretty good. Any branch antlered bull I will shoot with my bow and with a rifle I try to hold out for the 300 class bulls.
