Here are a couple pics of my first elk hunt and first success with a bow. I shot him at 35 yards quartering away as he was coming in to water. He is a 6X6 with an extra point on each of his first points. I don't know if that is considered a 7X7 or not. This was the most exciting hunt I have ever been on.

Very nice bull!! Ya done great! Unit info by anychance?? Res. or non-res. tag?
Love hunting those old burn areas for sure.

This was a Nevada resident tag for areas 11 and 22. I was hunting area 22. Saw elk everywhere we went. I was sitting on a water hole in the evening when I heard bugling way off to the south. I started glassing around and saw this bull up on a hill side coming over a saddle. He was bugling every few minutes and grazing down the hill. I heard a cow call to him from the bottom of the hill in the thicks. As soon as he heard the cow he changed directions and headed straight for her. When he caught up to her she headed straight for the water and he came in right behind her. She came in first and started to drink. When he came in it scared her off and she got out of the way to let him drink. At that point he was broadside at 20 yards. The cow started walking off to the north. I started to draw to get a shot off as quick as I could because the cow was headed down wind from me and I was sure she was just about to wind me. When I drew my bow she caught movement and jumped and barked. The bull spun and jumped off about 15 yards and stopped. He was quartering away at a steep angle at 35 yards. He turned to look and see what was going on. Just then I released the arrow. I took out one lung. It took a long time for him to finally die and there wasn't much blood to track. I had a lot of help there with me luckily or I might not have ever found him. This hunt was awesome.

Very nice, congrats on a fine archery bull, I'd call you lucky but you may well be a skilled archer. Nice bull at any rate.

very nice...congratulations to you and your 'helpers'..nice pics, too...thanks

It was worth tuning in just to see that sword on his right! Just curious why you didn't shoot broadside at 20 yards? Probably just wanted to enjoy the experience a little longer:)-)

Great bull. I noticed the date on the pic is 9/11. Something good to remember 9/11 for.

Keep shooting them straight. What did the bull score? I'm guessing 315-320?

9-11 also happens to be my birthday so it was a great day for me this year.

Don't know what he scored, didn't have a sheet to try and score him before I dropped him off at the taxidermist. I'm going to have to wait till I get him back I guess.
